Author and watercolorist Susan Wider shares her parcel of high-mountain desert near Santa Fe, NM with an assortment of hawks, woodpeckers, coyotes, rabbits, snakes, bobcats, and a husband. All these creatures find their way into her writing.
Susan’s articles and essays have appeared in Orion, THE Magazine, ewish Renaissance, The Fourth River, Wild Hope Magazine, Bird Watcher’s Digest, Kiki Magazine, Tennis View Magazine, Winter Bird Highlights (Cornell Lab of Ornithology), and Lighthouse Digest, among others.
Before becoming a full-time author, Susan held senior management positions at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, The Santa Fe Institute, and Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute. Earlier in her career she worked as an American English instructor and translator/interpreter for the French Chamber of Commerce in Normandy, France. She has also worked as a violinist in several professional chamber and symphony orchestras.
Susan earned master’s degrees from The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California (formerly Monterey Institute of International Studies) and from the University of New Mexico.
